With over 13,000 electrical fires in the UK each year, Wylex have launched a new, smaller Arc Fault Detection Device (AFDD) that disconnects the power supply when it detects a dangerous arc fault in a circuit. With recent research finding that a third of electricians do not install AFDDs because of they take up too much space, Wylex have developed a ‘mini-AFDD’.

Power management company Eaton has announced an extension to its range of blowout preventer (BOP) hoses, which meet the requirements of the demanding API 16D 2nd Edition drill well specification. The newly released Eaton EC556 BOP hose is a critical part of oil and gas drilling and exploration equipment where reliability and safety are priority customer needs.

Electrolube has been awarded the new global standard for Occupational Health and Safety, the ISO 45001. The company achieved the certificate on its first attempt, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace, as well as reducing occupational injuries and ill-health. The highly anticipated new standard replaces the international former workplace health and safety standard, the OHSAS 18001, which officially ends in March 2021. 

BOFA International has unveiled a spark arrestor unit designed to mitigate the risk of fire in high temperature fibre laser systems. BOFA’s new Spark Arrestor 2 prevents potentially damaging, incandescent particulate created during fibre laser processes from entering the fume extraction unit by transporting hot particles through specially designed impingement plates before depositing them in a removable drop-out chamber.

3M has launched the innovative Peltor Electronic Earplug, which reduces harmful levels of noise, but maintains a good level of situational awareness for wearers. The Peltor Electronic Earplug from 3M enables ambient sounds to be heard by its wearer, while providing protection against louder sounds that could cause damage to their hearing.
