Durable pumps and mixers designed and made by Landia are maximising BiogenGreenfinch’s anaerobic digestion process at Milton Ernest near Bedford.
Supplied with stainless steel impellers and stainless steel brackets (all protected by a two-component epoxy coating) to cope with food waste and pig manure, the Landia equipment has replaced mixers supplied by a different manufacturer. The new improved equipment has had a positive impact on biogas production.
BiogenGreenfinch Operations Manager Phil Moffat commented: Landia’s mixers and pumps refuse to clog up and enable us to maximise our operations considerably, producing biogas and in turn renewable energy and a high quality soil enricher.
He added: “Landia’s mixers are very energy efficient, and the MPTK pump is also proving highly effective for pumping pig slurry over long distances”.
BiogenGreenfinch’s Milton Ernest plant annually processes around 12,000 tonnes of pig slurry and 30,000 tonnes of food waste to produce 1.1MW of electricity and 1.65Mw of heat energy, enough to power 1,000 homes. In addition, the 32,000 tonnes of bio-fertiliser is spread onto Bedfordia Farms’ stubble and growing crops.
