THK CO at Hannover Messe this week has announced and exhibited product prototypes. At the exhibition, THK displayed a humanoid sensoroid that is able to grasp various conditions of the surrounding environment. Sensors can be embedded all over the robot, thus enabling the environment in which a person is situated to be visualised on the basis of a diversity of factors. A ‘smart’ sensing chair that measures a person´s respiration, heart rate, stress levels, and more will also be on display.

At MACH this year, industrial robot specialist, TM Robotics were there to support its new UK distributor, RARUK Automation. Organised by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), the biennial exhibition is an incredibly popular event for leaders in the UK’s manufacturing sector. The 2016 event was attended by 25,627 visitors over the five days and exhibitors attributed a total of £150m in new business to the show.

Power supply interfacing company, BLOCK has announced the introduction of its PowerCoil edgewise winding technology which provides unprecedented variability in the design of inductive wound products. The technology has been specially developed and constructed to produce this new type of winding design which offers designers a multitude of advantages including optimal cooling effect by maximising the heat-emitting conductor surface while simultaneously creating cooling ducts via the winding structure and minimal proximity losses with rising switching frequencies.

Providing data for the predictive maintenance of low voltage motors is theABB Ability Smart Sensor, which was on show at the MACH and Drives and Controls shows last week. In partnership with Emile Egger, a Swiss producer of pumps, ABB has now developed the solution to remotely monitor pumps.

Engineering-grade additive manufacturing solutions were on show from 3D systems, with a range available for all budgets and production requirements at MACH 2018. The company covered a full range of prototyping and manufacturing applications, and the 3D Systems stand featured end-to-end solutions for plastics and metal fabrication. 

The drive for increased efficiency is essential in every area of the water industry, completely integrated solutions that offer improvements to operational insight, energy usage, physical supply networks and process installations of especially high importance. At the IFAT 2018 exhibition, Mitsubishi Electric will be presenting its approach to meeting these needs, which has been developed based on an understanding of industry requirements from water automation projects from around the world.

This year’s EMO Hannover will be held 16-21st September with the motto ‘Smart technologies driving tomorrow’s production’, and it will be concentrating on the current paradigm shift in industrial production operations, which are no longer focusing (only) on ‘better, faster, more accurate’, but on the development and implementation of new functions within the framework of Industry 4.0.

  At this year's Hannover Messe, from 23rd-27th April in Germany, Altair will present its solutions featuring simulation-driven design for modern manufacturing methods, digital tool chains for the automation of engineering processes, and system simulation for model-based development of connected products.
