Unison has received an order for an all-electric tube bending machine from Van Rijsoort, the Netherlands-based tube bending specialists. The order follows an extensive investigation of tube bending technology by Van Rijsoort, during which the company joined a Unison Technology Tour and visited some of Unison’s customers to gain an insight into how they are using all-electric tube bending techniques to reduce scrap, improve productivity and conserve energy.

An advanced Unison tube bending machine fitted with automatic error correction has been ordered by Lee-Warren to support its architectural metalworking business.

Unison launches an all-electric tube bender with an integrated cutter, providing automated single-step manufacturing of volume parts such as exhausts and tubing or piping shapes. The new machine is believed to be an industry first - bringing the programmability and precision advantages of all-servo-control to the tubular parts manufacturing market.

An all-electric tube bending machine from Unison has been ordered by Philadelphia-based Fabspeed Motorsports, to enhance the manufacturing flexibility of advanced exhaust systems for performance cars. The machine will allow Fabspeed to bring a lot of its tube bending processes in-house. This will provide numerous benefits including reducing the cost of building an exhaust, shortening lead times, and extending the flexibility of the company's custom design services

At MACH, Unison will be showing all-electric tube bending machines that illustrate the wide ranging applications potential of the technology. Unison pioneered the all-electric tube bending revolution, and its machines feature an actuation system based on precision computer-controlled servomotor-based movement. This all-electric architecture provides significant performance benefits in terms of set-up speed, repeatability, energy consumption and noise reduction compared with traditional hydraulically powered machinery.

The pioneer of all-electric tube bending machinery, Unison, has announced a new series of tours of engineering companies in the UK that will demonstrate how manufacturers can reap productivity benefits from the precision and flexibility of servomotor-controlled tube bending technology. Four tours are scheduled for February, March, May and July in 2010. Each event will include visits to two advanced tube bending users, plus a tour of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), and a technical tube bending workshop at Unison's facility.

Unison has developed a novel bending cell for tube and pipe manufacturer RathGibson to serve the growing demand for U-shaped heat exchanger components. A version of Unison's servomotor-based tube bending machine uses a roll-forming tool to create custom-radius tubular parts under software control, eliminating much of the expensive tooling and set-up time conventionally required for this application.

The University of Hull is helping a high-tech metalworking machinery business to expand internationally, as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme, which links UK businesses and universities.

A new class of tube bending applications is made possible by the launch of all-electric benders for handling tubing diameters of up to 175 mm (7 inches), from the machine innovator Unison. The company's newly-extended all-electric tube bending machinery range brings the enormous process flexibility and business advantages of software-controlled set-up and bending to a large range of heavy-duty applications. Machines from the Unison Breeze family can now generate bending torques as high as 165,000 Nm/121,698 pound feet.

Unison has won an order from BAE Systems Surface Ships for a large tube-bending machine to support ongoing projects, including the construction of the Royal Navy's Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers. Capable of handling tube and pipe diameters up to 175 mm (~7 inches), the machine is expected to be the largest all-electric tube-bender ever built.

Unison has supplied a second all-electric tube bending machine to Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. The order for the machine came just two years after Unison delivered the first system.

The manufacturer of tube bending machinery, Unison, has been named Yorkshire's 'Most Enterprising Company Of The Year'. The accolade came at the first of a new regional awards competition organised by the International Business Forum event.
