Pioneering University uses Street Crane for heavy lifting
The new £24 million Advanced Manufacturing Building at the University of Nottingham has been equipped with overhead lifting equipment from Street Crane, the UK's largest overhead crane manufacturer. The overhead crane, designed, manufactured and installed by Street Crane, is actively being used to lift and re-position heavyweight research equipment and apparatus, being developed and tested at the new 9,000sq. metre building.

Overhead cranes increase productivity in £20m robotics factory
  Crane and hoist manufacturer, Street Crane, has supplied and installed overhead cranes at Fanuc UK’s new 107,000ft2 purpose-built headquarters at Ansty Park in Coventry. Fanuc builds around 6,000 robots, 125,000 servomotors, 84,000 servo amplifiers, and 25,000 CNC controllers every month to serve the wave of demand within manufacturing for ‘fourth industrial revolution’ technology.

Partnership helps to develop centre of excellence
Partnering together, Street Crane and Hayward Tyler are to supply and install six new overhead cranes for its newly extended production facility, which is one of the most advanced of its kind in the world. Hayward Tyler designs, engineers and manufactures specialist motors and pumps for the most demanding environments across the global energy sector. Following a £20m investment it has turned its Luton-based factory into a ‘Centre of Excellence’, including a 30,000 sq ft extension, which has more than doubled production capacity.

Goliath crane supplied to lift company to new levels
Completing its second installation for JDR, Street Crane has supplied a high-specification 25-tonne double girder goliath crane at the company’s Hartlepool manufacturing facility. JDR, a supplier of subsea umbilical and power cables to the offshore energy industry, selected Street to manufacture and install the 15m span crane to load 20-tonne cable bobbins into a new Horizontal Layup Machine (HLM).

Spirits lifted with double girder crane
Manufacturers are receiving a lift with the supply of a goliath double girder crane from Street Crane. Capable of lifting 20 tonnes and spanning 30m, the crane is being used by Centrum Pile. Located at the company’s UK headquarters in Newark, Nottinghamshire, the goliath crane is in continuous use six days a week, forming a key part of the production process.

A high capacity steel warehouse for multi-modal transport and logistics contractor, A V Dawson, has installed four overhead cranes, each of 30 tonnes capacity, from Street Crane Company. The cranes will play a crucial role in receiving and despatching steel coils for North East automotive and construction plant manufacturers and are expected to handle up to 290,000 tonnes of steel a year.

There are three levels of entry: junior engineers at post A-level/ONC, undergraduate engineers who have completed their first year of a BEng degree and graduate engineers seeking their first professional appointment.

After 74 years working for Street Crane Company, two senior engineers are retiring. John East leaves having spent his entire 49 year career with the company. He looked after sales in the south of England. Roger Heywood, the representative for the north west of England, has retired with 25 years’ service.

Luxury yacht makers Princess Yachts are using freestanding Goliath cranes from Street Crane Company to produce their new 30 to 40 metre M Class tri-deck yachts at the historic Devonport Dockyard. The cranes will be used in the assembly of the craft allowing large fabrications to be lifted, transported and accurately placed as the yachts are fitted out.

New Design Hoist and Beam Increases Single Girder Crane Capacities
In a game changing move, Street Crane Company, the UK’s largest industrial crane manufacturer, has launched a single girder hoist for safe lifting from 12.5 to 25 tonnes. Managing director Andrew Pimblett explained, “Most crane applications over 10 tonnes used to need a double girder crane and it was rare to find a monorail crane lifting over 15 tonnes. With our new design we are able to offer single girder crane options up to 25 tonnes safe working load for many mainstream applications. This saves material, crane cost, structural costs, weight and extends the crane capability.”
