Bearing manufacturer NKE Austria GmbH has a new Human Resources Manager: As of February 2009, Thomas Witzler, MSc, is responsible for human resources management with a focus on personnel and organisational development as well as recruiting.

Austrian bearing specialist NKE Austria has developed a modular bearing system for planetary gears in wind turbine gearboxes. The new bearing assemblies offer the advantages of a standardisation of the bearings used in this application, a reduced diversity of parts and simplified logistics. The system is already in use in the 1.5 MW, 2 MW and 2.5 MW wind turbine gearboxes of a well-known German gearbox manufacturer.

Bearing manufacturer NKE Austria GmbH is building a new works in the Austrian city of Steyr. With the recent ground-breaking ceremony, the company management officially opened construction work on the new 10 000-square-metre development. Completion of the new office and production facilities is scheduled for May 2009 with a total investment of 12 million euros.

The new coating technology is Cr(VI) free and is therefore compliant with the RoHS Directive. Typical applications include materials handling, food processing and agricultural machinery.
