An Underwater/Air Distance and Angle Laser has been added to Newton Labs’ line of Underwater Laser  measurement devices and scanners. The Nuclear NM800DA and Non-Nuclear M800DA Distance and Angle Laser Systems are designed to attach to a camera and accurately measure its position relative to a target; with distance, pitch and yaw simply displayed.

Nuclear power industry managers and engineers attending the EPRI Buried Pipe Integrity Group (BPIG) Meeting and Vendor Expo on February 17 - 19 will have the opportunity to examine an innovative Inspector-series underwater robot, similar to the one that recently completed a successful floor plate survey of an in-service condensate storage tank at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona. The robot will be on display in the expo area at the IHI Southwest Technologies, Inc. booth, number 08.

IHI Southwest Technologies. and Newton Labs completed a robotic examination of an in-service condensate storage tank (CST) at a United States nuclear reactor during the plant’s 2014 autumn outage. IHI engineers conducted the inspection of the tank floor by utilising a combination of phased array ultra-sound, eddy current, laser scanning, and high resolution cameras, all mounted on an Inspector-series underwater robot designed, manufactured and operated by engineers from Newton Labs.
