Data processing technology that accelerates the execution of machine learning on vector computers by more than 50 times in comparison to Spark technologies has been developed by NEC. This newly developed data processing utilises computing and communications technologies that leverage 'sparse matrix' data structures in order to significantly accelerate the performance of vector computers in machine learning.

NEC has announced that the 280km ATISA submarine fibre optic cable system connecting Guam to the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) is complete and operational. ATISA is owned by DOCOMO PACIFIC, who selected NEC to design and build the cable.

Switzerland’s national postal service, Swiss Post, has signed a contract for Culler Facer Cancellers (CFC) in support of postal automation, NEC Corporation has announced. NEC is scheduled to supply 13 systems for three of Swiss Post's large-scale mail sorting centres by February 2019.

NEC Electronics Europe today announced its participation in the «SPS / IPC / DRIVES 2007» exhibition being held November 27 – 29 at the Nuremberg Messe. The NEC Electronics booth will be featuring the company’s solutions for Profinet, industrial motor control and HMIs.
