KMT Waterjet Systems

Reduced running costs and easier servicing are claimed for a new, high pressure water jet cutting system to be launched in Europe by KMT at MACH 2012. Manufactured in the USA, the Streamline PRO2 received its world premiere at the IMTS show in Chicago last September. Replacing the PRO1 and identically priced, the new model has the same industry-leading specification based on a hydraulic intensifier pump rated at either 45 or 93 kW. Both variants generate 6,200 bar (90,000 psi) of water pressure at the cutting head inlet for efficient processing of virtually any material.

KMT will demonstrate its new STREAMLINE PRO 6,200 bar (90,000 psi) water jet technology on its stand at EMO, emphasising the significant increase in piercing and cutting efficiency compared with using 4,100 bar, which until recently was the industry maximum.

For pure water jet cutting applications, KMT has introduced a new, competitively priced pump and pressurised delivery system. It is aimed at OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) whose customers need relatively low flow rate and pressure for processing soft materials like paper, foam, plastic, rubber, gaskets, textiles and food.

KMT Waterjet Systems can now provide a touch screen display for its STREAMLINE SL-V 30-100 ultra-high pressure pumps, models from the SL-V 150/200 range and the new PRO Series of High Pressure 6000 bar pumps. This development provides major benefits to users, allowing them to control and monitor all the pump’s operating parameters by simply pressing the respective touch screen buttons on the display. A further benefit is the ability to connect it via an interface to the internet for remote diagnostics and monitoring of performance.

KMT Waterjet Systems has introduced the new PRO series of High-Pressure waterjet cutting products. With achievable cutting pressures of up to 6,200 bar, representing an increase of over 50% compared with conventional 4000bar pressures, the new products will appeal particularly to companies looking to cut larger thick metal profiles.

Organised by the BHR Group, the 19th International Conference on Water Jetting will be held in Nottingham, United Kingdom, 15-17 October 2008. This is the premier event of its type in Europe and has particular significance this year as the popularity of water jetting continues to grow dramatically. Today’s applications range from precision cutting and shaping to environmentally friendly cleaning, the decommissioning of munitions and even the removal of damaged flesh from wounds. MicroStep UK has now been established in the UK to market the company’s ranges of Aquacut and Watercut CNC waterjet cutting machines. The company is based in Coventry and has been formed through an agreement between the Directors of Matrix Lasers, who have been users of MicroStep machines for a number of years, and the MicroStep parent company in Slovakia. The new company has also appointed George Tudor, who has vast experience in the profiling industry, as UK Sales Manager.
