Hartlepool College of Further Education

A mum is aiming for the skies after returning to the classroom to qualify as an aerospace engineer. The former RAF engineer, who was sent on detachment around the world, has returned to the Tees Valley to continue her education at Hartlepool College of Further Education. Catherine Lollis, 26, who has toured Italy, Gibraltar, Spain and the USA is now studying for an HNC Aerospace Engineering certification with the College after leaving the force to become a parent.

Hartlepool College of Further Education has celebrated the graduation of its higher education engineering students at its first ever graduation day. More than 120 students, at two ceremonies, donned caps and gowns and were presented with their awards by principal, Darren Hankey, in front of family and friends.

  At an event held at Hartlepool College of Further Education, companies from across the North East have come together to further promote women in construction.

  Hartlepool College of Further Education, Caterpillar, Babcock International and Gestamp Tallent have called upon young women in the North East to explore a career in engineering.
