Interaction components for contactless human-machine operation

Interaction components for contactless human-machine operation
Presenting its gesture control expertise, the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI will be at this year’s HANNOVER MESSE trade fair. At the Fraunhofer booth C22 in hall 2, the institute is presenting the EASY COHMO project (ergonomics assistance systems for contactless human-machine operation) aimed at overcoming the problems of human-robot interaction and cooperation.

Flexible manufacturing on the road to production runs of one

Flexible manufacturing on the road to production runs of one
At the moment manufacturing is set to a fixed series of separate stages, so if machines or equipment for some reason fail – production stops. This will cost time and money, but the researchers at Fraunhofer are now offering a better way with a digital twin. Machines today produce parts in networked, pre-programmed production runs: pieces are turned, milled and measured in a set order.

Taking the momentum out of vibrations

Taking the momentum out of vibrations
Components of ships are sent grey with stress, all due to diesel engines vibrating. However adaptronic systems can effectively reduce these vibrations. At the maritime trade fair SMM, Fraunhofer researchers are presenting a simulation tool that allows these systems to be developed efficiently: The ‘Mechanical Simulation Toolbox’ is now available on the market and easy to use.

Industry 4.0 controls precision glass molding machine

Industry 4.0 controls precision glass molding machine
When manufacturing optical lenses, every detail counts. In order to stabilise and optimise the manufacturing process, Fraunhofer researchers are using digitalised processes. At the Optatec trade fair in Frankfurt from June 7 to 9, Fraunhofer experts will be showing how Industry 4.0 approaches can improve the development and manufacture of glass optics (hall 3.0, booth D50).
