Infusion is a process widely used to manufacture large components such as wind blades or wing boxes. However, determining vent locations and injection strategy is a real challenge for large, complex parts made of different composite materials and inserts and for which the resin flow through the thickness is not uniform. Until now, no simulation tool could accurately manage these large or complex components requiring volumic modeling, costing companies multiple expensive and time-consuming trials to reach a working manufacturing process.

Based on a Noise-Vibration-Harshness (NVH) study showing that maximum engine noise comes from the oil sump, Tata Motors, India's largest automotive company, selected PAM-STAMP 2G, ESI’s Sheet Metal Forming Simulation Suite, to investigate and then completely redefine and optimize its oil sump concept.

ESI Global Forum 2010, the first global users conference on Virtual Prototyping, took place last May 19-20 in Munich, Germany. Its success was proven by the active participation of over 280 designers, engineers, analysts and managers of customer and partner companies from various industries around the world. Significant enhancements in the simulation of automotive fuel cell performance were presented to the Department of Energy (DOE) Hydrogen Program and Vehicle Technologies Program Annual Merit Review and Peer Evaluation Meeting today. This program seeks to improve the ability to use simulation to conduct a detailed study of how various fuel cell component structures and properties affect the gas and water transport in Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells. Engineers from ESI North America have been an integral part of this project during the last three years.

The International Styrian Noise, Vibration and Harshness (ISNVH) Congress is the annual European Automotive Noise Conference for Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) experts to discuss the possibilities and existing achievements in vehicle NVH. Organized by the Virtual Vehicle Research and Test Center in cooperation with AVL, MAGNA STEYR and the American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the 6th ISNVH Congress will be held June 9-11, 2010 at the University of Technology in Graz, Austria.
