A customised process for testing Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) at temperatures over 2700˚F has been developed by Element Materials Technology’s CMC Centre of Excellence located in Cincinnati. The capability is specifically designed to support all of the Aerospace Primes and their supply chain partners in the development and manufacturing of current and next generation aero engines that need to operate at exceedingly higher temperatures and incorporate CMCs as part of the engines components.

To offer clients a single supplier source for EMC Testing, Product Safety Testing and certifications and approval services Element Materials Technology has launched Product Safety Testing in the US. The service will be offered out of Element’s laboratory located in Irvine, California. The Group will also offer Product Safety Testing, alongside certifications and approvals, to clients across the United States via its on-site testing programme.

Element Materials Technology has acquired Exova. The deal joins two leading testing companies to create a single global testing organisation. The combined company, which is majority owned by private equity firm Bridgepoint, now has more than 6,200 employees and will operate in the future as Element Materials Technology. The new Element Group will consist of 200 laboratories located in more than 30 countries.

To accommodate significant growth this year’s Element Materials Technology annual Testing and Global Approvals conference will take place at the King Power Stadium, home to Premier League Champions, Leicester City, on June 28. Hundreds of delegates from OEMs and supply chain partners are set to attend tailored sessions on commercial and technical issues in industry.

Peter Luff, Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, opened the final day of DVD 2012 on June 21, 2012 and highlighted the crucial role small and medium enterprises play in creating a vibrant and sustainable defence industry.

TRaC hosted a free seminar on the EMC and vibration testing requirements of the rail industry in conjunction with the Rail Alliance in April 2012. The discussions and workshops revealed the need for greater awareness and understanding of EMC and vibration testing for the rail sector. The event took place at TRaC’s specialist EMC test laboratory in Skelmersdale where Network Rail gave delegates a comprehensive overview the company’s product acceptance process.
