EADS Defence & Security will carry out the modernisation programme of four Harrier AV-8B Day Attack aircraft for the Spanish Navy. The contract, with a value of 11.5 million Euros, has been signed with Navair, the U.S. governmental authority acting on behalf of the Spanish Navy. The contract will be executed throughout the next three years, until 2011.

EADS Defence & Security has been awarded a 5-year frame agreement through its integrated activity EADS Secure Networks by State Security Networks Finland. The frame agreement future-proofs the nationwide VIRVE network for the upcoming 15 years.

EADS Defence & Security has helped to devise a concept for bettering overall traffic situations. The idea involves a network of sensors mounted on public transportation. The results of the EU-funded research project, dubbed MORYNE (enhanceMent of public transpORt efficiencY through the use of mobile seNsor nEtworks) were recently announced by the members of the consortium. A total of eleven companies and organisations from Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary and Spain collaborated on the project.

EADS Defence & Security has been commissioned by Brazil’s Departamento de Polícia Federal to expand the digital radio network of the Brazilian Federal Police on the basis of the Tetrapol standard.

EADS Defence & Security (DS) has signed a contract, now submitted to the state audit court for registration, for the new Italian Joint Military Message Handling System (IT-JMMHS) with the General Directorate of Telecommunications, Information and Advanced Technologies, a procurement Agency of the Italian Ministry of Defence.
