ASDEC facilities allow improved efficiencies in Power Generation

ASDEC facilities allow improved efficiencies in Power Generation
The vibration analysis equipment at ASDEC is proving valuable for the power generation industry in their drive to utilise modern and novel lightweight and composite materials for increased efficiency, in part driven by the demands of legislation. Whether it is a wind turbine or a gas turbine, knowledge of the structural dynamics of the machine is critical in achieving optimum efficiency and in ensuring lifetime reliability in service.

Vibrometer offers full surface strain measurement

ASDEC is now able to undertake detailed non-contact surface strain measurements to add to its capabilities in the measurement and analysis of vibration. The University of Leicester facility is using its Polytec 3D scanning laser vibrometer to undertake a detailed surface scan to measure component strains and to produce, by calculation, a full-field map of stresses and strains that is directly comparable to the engineer’s Finite Element (FE) results.
