PWM motor driver IC designed to reduce current ripple
A new quad DMOS full-bridge driver IC has been introduced from Allegro MicroSystems, which is capable of driving up to two stepper motors or four DC motors. Each full-bridge output is rated up to 1.6A and 40V.  Allegro’s A5990 includes fixed off-time pulse-width modulation (PWM) current regulators, along with 2- bit nonlinear DACs (digital-to-analog converters) that allow stepper motors to be controlled in full, half, and quarter steps, and DC motors in forward, reverse, and coast modes.

The integrated capacitor reduces the need for external EMI protection.

Drive high current BLDC motors in consumer and industrial applications
A new three-phase brushless BLDC motor controller has been announced by Allegro MicroSystems Europe, for use with N-channel external power MOSFETs. Allegro’s AMT49413 incorporates much of the circuitry required to design a cost-effective, three-phase motor drive system with maximum supply voltages up to 50V. The device is targeted at high current BLDC motor applications for speed, position, or torque control requirements.

Allegro MicroSystems Europe has released the A3916 low voltage bipolar stepper or dual DC motor driver IC.  The new device is designed for Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) control of low-voltage stepper motors or dual DC motors using just four external components, and is capable of output currents up to 1A per channel and operating voltages from 2.7-15V.
