The new production facility is part of a multi-million pound joint investment project between Milk Link and Volac, which is being installed at the Milk Link Taw Valley Creamery in Devon, United Kingdom. Chronos BTH’s packing line will form an important part of the facility
Operating in a clean-room environment the Chronos BTH OML-1040-BF Bottom-Up Filling System will pack 25kg weighments of whey permeate powder into polyethylene (PE) lined pinch-top paper bags.
Coarse filling will be carried out by the Bottom-Up Filler prior to product de-aeration using in-built de-aeration probes. To ensure optimum filling accuracy fine feed top up will take place at a second filling position. A secondary de-aeration system will ensure the elimination of any trapped air from the filled bag prior to sealing the PE liner and activation of the pre-applied bag mouth glue.
Filled bags will be automatically palletised using an existing palletiser, prior to storage in an onsite warehouse.
To supplement the 25kg packing system Chronos BTH is also supplying a high accuracy FIBC Filling System. This will utilise a pallet dispenser to release empty pallets to the BBF-400 Filling System, which will also be located in the clean-room. A pre-inflation system will help to ensure optimum filling of the FIBCs, which when filled will be moved on their pallets over to the warehouse via an automated speed door system.
Installation of the new filling systems is scheduled to take place in the autumn.
