Love Fifteen in Northern Ireland for Eimco Water Technologies’ MBR
To achieve tight discharge limits on a 95% ile basis, Eimco Water Technologies has completed the installation of a new MBR (Membrane Bio-Reactor) at Irvinestown, County Fermanagh – the fifteenth MBR it has successfully delivered to Northern Ireland Water.
Incorporating flat-sheet membrane technology, the £3M Wastewater Treatment Works has been designed by Eimco Water Technologies to treat an average flow of 843 m3/d and a peak flow of 1706 m3/d.

Situated close to the popular Lough Erne, which is utilised by pleasure boat owners and for numerous water sports, the new works complies with the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, adhering to effluent limits of 10mg/l BOD, 6mg/l TSS and 2mg/l Ammonia-N.

With design, build, installation and commissioning led by Eimco Water Technologies’ integrated solutions team in Newry, the new WWTW has replaced an antiquated sewage treatment plant, and can accommodate an almost 40% rise in Irvinestown’s population.

The project was a working partnership between Northern Ireland Water, Eimco Water Technologies, Dean Public Works (civil engineering contractors) and Faber Maunsell (consulting engineers and project managers).
