Landia’s digester mixing system advances biogas production at Bakenhus
Landia’s digester mixing system, which combines sludge recirculation with gas injection, has helped a thriving business in northern Germany increase its biogas methane content by 6%. Heinz Bakenhus’ biogas plant in Grossenkneten utilises Landia’s equipment for its primary and secondary tanks to mix and accelerate the gas production of a feedstock that combines maize, grass silage, chicken manure, grain and pig slurry.
The feedstock of approximately 8% dry matter is first mixed with recirculated digester fluid before entering the tanks. Sludge is drawn from the digester and then pumped through the aspirating venturi chamber. Biogas is aspirated from the top of the digester, mixed with the sludge and injected into the tank to provide optimum AD mixing. Heinz Bakenhus’ investment is anticipated to achieve payback in just 21 months.

Guaranteed to be clog-free, Landia’s digester mixing system can be hot-drilled-installed – and has no mechanical equipment inside the vessel, which makes maintenance much easier from outside the tank.
