Close to beaches overlooking the Solway Firth, EIMCO Water Technologies’ Copa SAF plant is enabling Southerness Holiday Park meet its discharge consent.
In addition to inlet screening, feed pumping station, Lamella plate primary tank sludge pumps, CB 5000 Copa SAF (Submerged Aerated Filter) plant, Lamella plate humus tanks, UV disinfection system, discharge pumping station and related civil works, the turnkey project in Dumfries also required EIMCO Water Technologies to provide fencing for the protection of rare species such as the Natterjack toad.
Parkdean Holidays, who run 24 self-catering holiday parks in Great Britain, including Southerness, are meeting dual discharge consent levels: sanitary levels of 25 BOD/35 SS/125 COD and Microbial limits of faecal coli-forms 100 per 100ml, faecal streptococci 100 per 100ml (90% tile).

David Key, Scottish Regional Manager for Parkdean Holidays, commented: “EIMCO Water Technologies have worked in close consultation with us to provide a very economical, yet highly effective treatment package that gives us great peace of mind in this beautiful setting”.

The modular design of the Copa SAF plant (biological state) makes it easy to separate the treatment flows into streams. This keeps operating and maintenance costs to a minimum, regardless of Southerness Holiday Park’s visitor numbers, peaking at 6000 during the summer, when a five stream system is in operation, compared to just one highly economic stream in winter.
