CoSaf specifies Breezair for cooling ColepCCL factory
ColepCCL’s management in Scunthorpe has resolved the problem of reducing high summer temperatures in areas of its factory where a combination of machinery and solar heat was producing indoor temperatures of up to 35°C. The company has installed the Breezair evaporative cooling system, which has reduced temperatures to 8°C below ambient temperature from exclusive UK and Irish distributors, CoSaf Environments.
A total of four Breezair coolers are providing localised cooling to personnel. As a result, excessive summer temperatures have been substantially reduced, providing the 350 employees in the three production areas with a more comfortable working environment.

ColepCCL is Europe’s largest contract manufacturer of personal care, cosmetics, and over-the-counter medicated and household care products and has important activities in metal and plastic packaging. Employing a European workforce of 2,000, the company’s UK factory is one of five operated by ColepCCL throughout Europe.

Installed into three separate areas, the initial Breezair application now provides cooling to areas producing product for multi-national brand owners. Two Breezair TBA Industrial air coolers were installed into the side wall of the building, with cooled, fresh air being distributed via centralised ductwork and dropping vertically down to a series of air diffusers directing air within the Rotary Aerosol Line to allow efficient distribution of the cooled air and localised cooling. Additionally a further pair or Breezair RPX Coolers were installed to provide cooling to Lines S1 to S4 and on Lines S5 to S6, these two separate systems provide cooling via ducting and diffusers or via a large porous fabric sock.

“Breezair evaporative cooling is cost effective to install and run”, says Mark Gibson, Maintenance Manager at ColepCCL. “It provides lots of cool, fresh air and at the same time is ecologically attractive to us as it uses very little energy and emits no greenhouse gases or carbon products.”

The Breezair system is controlled by Seeley International’s Industrial Wall Control (IWC), which enables the Breezair cooling system to be controlled at the touch of a button. The IWC identifies any faulty cooler in a group and the cooler electronic module provides comprehensive fault diagnostics enabling it to be quickly repaired.

Breezair coolers contain large high efficiency cooling pads that are kept wet by a pump and water distribution system. Air is drawn through the pads by a powerful fan and is cooled by the evaporative process, providing a constant flow of naturally cooled, fresh air, without any air being recirculated. The evaporative process is particularly good for sealed, hygienic environments as most contaminants within the water supply are scrubbed out within the air cooler and do not pass through the cooler into the cooled zones. Breezair Evaporative Air Coolers are the only air coolers in the world to have been independently tested and found to comply with stringent German Hygiene Standard VDI-6022 part 3.

The Breezair system is housed in a simple, clean, ultra-modern designed plastic casing specially developed to withstand all weather conditions. The Breezair's state-of-the-art components include an innovative water distribution system, which delivers continuous, balanced water coverage to all the pads. The world-patented system ensures maximum cooling efficiency and minimal maintenance problems.

An innovatively designed, aerodynamic fan provides a constant, even flow of air over the pads to provide a welcome cool breeze with minimal noise and low energy consumption. Other pioneering components include a highly efficient water pump that guarantees constant and reliable cooling when most needed, and a long lasting variable speed motor that gives maximum comfort level control.
