Automatic Bagging & Palletising at Potters Ballotini Ltd

An existing Chronos manual bagging system has recently been upgraded to automatic operation at Potters Ballotini Ltd in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This company is an international manufacturer of a diverse range of Highway Safety and Engineered Glass material products, with small granular particles up to 1000 microns diameter.

The new automatic system utilises a CHRONO-FILL™ OML600 bagging system and CHRONO-PAL™ RP Robot Palletiser to pack and palletise a variety of reflective glass spheres into plastic lined paper pillow type bags. The system incorporates a customer specified over-tape and sealing system for optimum bag sealing and presentation.

An additional feature integrated into the automatic bagging and palletising system, allows the robot palletiser to carefully mimic the original manual bagging system operation. This operating routine ensures that there is the optimum degree of bag overlapping during the layer formation part of the palletising process, for maximum pallet stability and warehouse space utilisation.

Chronos engineers designed, built, installed and commissioned the system, which includes full CE light barrier safety systems and safety guarding.
