Endevco announced today it has signed a license agreement with Boeing Commercial Airplane Group enabling Endevco to offer an innovative aircraft wing Pressure Belt, developed jointly by the two companies, to all Endevco aviation and aerospace customers as a commercial product.
The agreement means that all such Endevco customers can now benefit from the product’s non-invasive technology for accurately measuring pressure at numerous locations along aircraft wings. The Pressure Belt also computes the coefficient of pressure to determine the aircraft’s structural loads during various flight conditions.

Endevco has produced more than 600 of the belts for Boeing to measure pressure at numerous locations along the wings of 747, 767, 777 and 787 aircraft. These measurements provide critical data used in calculating payload capabilities, engine efficiency, fuel economy and other operational parameters.

Previous methods of obtaining this data required drilling holes on the wing, extensive cabling, signal conditioning and data acquisition products to achieve the same goal. The Endevco Pressure Belt provides a compact, integrated, cost-effective, scalable and accurate alternative.

The product allows Boeing, and now all Endevco customers, to make extremely accurate pressure measurements, including along new composite wings on aircraft such as the 787, without the need for wing modifications.

Each Endevco Pressure Belt assembly is comprised of up to three ultra-miniaturized pressure sensor modules networked together and mounted on a flexible strip. The extremely low profile of the Pressure Belt generates minimal aerodynamic impact.

“We are extremely pleased that Boeing has agreed to license the Pressure Belt to Endevco,” stated Bruce Putman, Director of Programs at Endevco. “We have been working with multiple customers in the aircraft industry who clearly understand the benefits and accuracy of this system, given the success of the product in the test programs at Boeing. This is an important opportunity for Endevco to continue to support Boeing and now other customers in their new product development efforts.”
