element14, Premier Farnell’s online technology resource and community is pleased to announce in line with its roadmap of innovation for electronic design engineers, the introduction of a new functionality that enables users to easily upload their own demonstration, tutorial or development videos to the eCommunity. Coming directly after the recently announced 150 community requested enhancements, element14 will allow users to share, sort and view videos, just like documents, throughout the site, by way of a simple search function. The recent site enhancements also mean video can be shared with anyone.

Users can now upload their own product, tutorial or demonstration videos to element14 and share it with the whole community

Every group within element14 will now host a video tab that holds all videos uploaded by its members. Videos can be uploaded from personal computers, networks or via the Internet. Users can even post a video while using the discussion module.

A Pew Internet & American Life Project's report says that more than half of online video viewers (57%) share links to the video they find with others, and three in four (75%) say they receive links to watch video that others have sent to them.

“Research told us that almost sixty percent of people like to share video and one of the key reasons to add the new functionality was to enable today’s design engineers a broad visual platform to share their latest designs in an effective way,” said Devashish Saxena, Senior Vice President Global eCommerce and Social Marketing at Premier Farnell. “element14 continues to invest and discover new and innovative ways to aid electronic design engineers in their task to build better designs, and learn from other engineers first hand. This new video module is yet another way forward for the design community.”

element14 is a natural platform for this offering as the community creates a unique online environment, providing the global electronic design engineers with a vast array of product data, design tools, technology information and the capabilities for public or private collaboration with peers and experts.
