Ethernet Direct Corporation is pleased to share success stories involved in deploying Falcon series Industrial wireless devices in different applications especially in Mining systems.
Safety has long been a controversial issue in the mining business especially with sub-surface mining. In the modern mining solution, wireless access points are used to communicate with a central management system. They will be mounted directly onto heavy duty mining equipments and will relay information to the central survey system. The need for robust IP-68 housing is to protect the device from the harsh outdoor environment – weatherproof, waterproof, dustproof. To secure information, a certain level of encryption is vital. In mining, parameters related to security must be measured and monitored on a real-time basis.

Mining industry involves many processes, from drilling into the earth mining for copper ore, extracting, and delivering to the market. As an industry leader in Industrial Ethernet technology, Ethernet Direct demonstrates proven expertise in both switching and wireless technologies by deploying several wireless applications in mining located in Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, Canada and South America. The Falcon Industrial Wireless Access Points FWO-712, FWO-711, FWI-701 and FWO-702 are the main devices used in the project deployment to communicate with a central management system. The FWO-712 and FWO-711 units are mounted directly onto heavy duty mining equipment and will relay information to the central survey systems. While the FWI-701 and FWI-702 are situated in remote stations and connected to the FWO units. With innovative technology design, Falcon wireless offer 54Mbps high data rate and can link separate networks to create a single expanded LAN network cost wise and efficiently. Accurate data is transmitted and monitored with synchronization. Data are processed to ensure reliable operations. Mines are located in harsh environment in mining areas, wide operating temperature switches are required to perform safely. All wireless devices operate reliably from -30 to +70 deg C. The need for robust IP-68 housing protects the device from harsh outdoor environment – weatherproof, waterproof, dustproof.
