Watson says: “China is a true manufacturing and engineering superpower, and this MoU signed by Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning Minister John Hayes means that awarding bodies will be able to work across borders. As a result, students in both countries will have the chance to learn from each other and expand their skills within other cultures. British students in particular will benefit from exposure to China’s high-tech engineering sector enhancing their knowledge and skills.”
She continues: “We will be extremely interested in the results of trials of UK-style apprenticeships in China and are pleased Mr Hayes has acknowledged apprenticeships are at the heart of the British government’s approach to vocational education. With both countries recognising each other’s qualifications, there’s never been a better chance for those in vocational training to seize highly skilled opportunities across the world.”
