Catalog Data Solutions (CDS), a leading provider of online solutions for industrial suppliers, today announced that revenue in Q3 2010 grew over 30% compared to the same quarter last year. Year-to-date through Q3 2010 revenue is over 20% higher than the same period in 2009.
“These CDS revenue increases illustrate that industrial suppliers (manufacturers and distributors) continue to increase their online marketing presence and sales lead generation by utilizing our, relatively low cost, Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. For example customers we’ve welcomed this year include three divisions of ITT (Goulds, Bell and Gossett, Marlow), Amphenol Connex, ISC Engineering, Mueller Industries, DimcoGray (via TriComB2B), Associated Spring Raymond, Precision Screw Thread, White Drive Products, Heyco Products, Magnet-Schultz, Altra Warner Linear (via CDS partner i-MARK),” said John Major, CEO Catalog Data Solutions. “Because the buying process has changed, most industrial suppliers realize that their ‘table stakes’ now include a website with a parametric catalog (such as the CDS Catalog™), CAD downloads (such as the CDS ModelServer™, plus CAD search engine 3DModelSpace.com™) and, for configurable products, Configurators (such as the CDS Configurator™).”

The buying process has changed. Designers now research and select products online before, or even instead of, talking to a salesperson - therefore to be in consideration, any supplier’s online content needs to influence that research. Of all the types of online marketing content a supplier can use (white papers, case studies, brochures, videos, demos, recorded webinars, reviews, CAD model downloads, etc.) only CAD model downloads are known to lead to a sale nearly 50% of the time! CAD downloads get a supplier’s products specified into new designs, and provide sales leads by registration – this may be the most efficient and effective online marketing tool available to industrial suppliers.
