Altium’s challenge to engineers: change the way design is done

Altium asked all electronics designers to leave all preconceptions at the door at this year’s embedded world conference, held in Nuremberg, Germany, March 3-5, 2009.
Altium is changing the way design is done and challenging visitors to the Altium exhibit, regardless of background, to take a new view.

The whole design process is being turned on its head, with engineers seeking to develop their next generation electronics designs, without having to start with the hardware. Engineers can now create their functional intelligence using Altium Designer, and then use Altium’s desktop NanoBoard to snap on IP as they need it. With Altium’s next generation electronics design solution, it has never been simpler for engineers to develop a concept, explore devices, create prototypes and take the design to market.

Altium will hold live demonstrations that will focus on its latest design concepts and how they work to make embedded design easier and more accessible. A new Field Instrumentation dashboard will help designers overcome some of the challenges of testing or remotely monitoring designs inside FPGAs. And a new plug-and-play Software Platform Builder will help designers quickly 'snap' together systems and exploit a standard set of services within the 'soft' hardware environment created inside programmable devices.

Engineers wanting a more hands-on experience can register for Altium’s unified design workshop. Expert staff will guide engineers through Altium’s unified design solution and show how they can deliver sustainable differentiation through innovation. The workshop is called “Unified Design – Innovative Architectural Design Methodology for Embedded Systems” and will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2009.

“Technology is rapidly changing and no one knows this better than today’s electronics designers. As electronics become more advanced, so must the tools we use to develop them. As our technology changes, so must our approach to electronics design,” comments Frank Hoschar, VP Sales & Support, Altium Europe

“Altium’s exhibit at embedded world will show that electronics design needs to evolve. That there needs to be a new approach to design where yesterday’s methods are replaced with next generation solutions that help to create new products in new ways. Altium’s unified electronics design solutions aim to make this change possible.”

Engineers interested in seeing how Altium is making this change possible, can view some of the latest customer innovations at Altium’s customer showcase. High profile customers will display some of their most successful projects developed using Altium Designer. Innovative products from Bang & Olufsen, Philips, and Wincor Nixdorf will be amongst some of the items displayed.
