A high feed milling cutter for diameters 13-32mm (0.512-1.26”) has been introduced by Sandvik Coromant. Among the advantages of using the new CoroMill 415 are enhanced security, thanks to iLock insert seat interface technology, and high metal removal rates as a result of high cutter density and high feed capacity.

The Cerabar PMP11, 21 and 23 pressure transducers have been introduced by Endress+Hauser that measure up to 6,000psi and are factory spanable to specific application requirements. The transducers are available with threaded or welded hygienic process connections, meet a variety of industry standards including FDA, FM, IEC and Ex, and provide 4-20mA or 0-10VDC output signals.

The expansion of Allied Machine & Engineering’s AccuPort 432/AccuThread 856 programme has just been announced, to include more than 120 kits for manufacturing hydraulic ports and manifolds. The kits are now available to meet SAE J1926; ISO I6149; John Deere G1731; and SAE AS5202 (aerospace standard/Mil-Spec) specifications.

US machine tool control specialist CNC Onestop is being helped with advanced CNC systems from NUM, to maintain competitive market edge through the use of precise positioning techniques. Based in Ohio, but also operating in Toronto, CNC Onestop is a CNC engineering company that works in full CNC, motor and drive retrofits for machine tools, as well as machine rebuilds and troubleshooting.

A precision wood machining machine based on a 28-axis CNC system from NUM has been launched by Krüsi Maschinenbau. The new MC15 provides very high quality wood machining capabilities and can be equipped with up to 28 axes and a maximum of six machining heads, each of which can be fitted with four machine tools.

As the years have progressed so has the vertical-spindle VM1 from Hurco. Its entry-level machining centre has evolved into the more capable VM10 and the manufacturer has continued to improve the specification. Linear travels have been extended, a larger tool changer is provided, spindle speed and rapid traverse are both faster, and a spindle chiller and through-spindle coolant have been added.

Known to produce significant reductions in cycle times, compared with multiple set-ups on several machine tools, is single-hit production. However, few applications result in a time saving as great as that being achieved by Plymouth subcontractor, Morris Engineering, during the production of a military aircraft gyroscope part from S420 stainless steel bar.

Producing the ‘Wood Terminator’ range of wood chippers for processing biofuel is Austrian forestry and agricultural technology equipment manufacturer MUS-MAX. These huge trailer mounted or self-propelled drum chopping machines can work their way through waste wood and log diameters of up to 75cm or more at the rate of 230m3 per hour.
