Magma Design Automation announced Exar Corporation has adopted the Tekton static timing analysis and QCP extraction software to accelerate sign-off and engineering change order (ECO) flows for 40-nanometer systems on a chip (SoCs). Exar selected the Magma solution after an extensive evaluation in which Tekton and QCP were shown to efficiently perform multi-mode multi-corner analysis and extraction, to deliver 5X faster runtime than traditional tools, and to provide sign-off quality results. Exar is now leveraging the Magma solution to shorten development cycles and accelerate shipment of next-generation devices to customers to meet dynamic market requirements

Dassault Systèmes has announced that premium green automobile manufacturer Fisker Automotive has relied upon CATIA for virtual design and ENOVIA for product data management and collaboration in the development of its Karma and Surf models. Recognized as the leading automotive industry design solution, the integrated capabilities of CATIA enabled Fisker to work from a single architecture for everything from wire harness design through Class A surfacing, while ENOVIA managed the design data across multiple global locations. Cobham Technical Services has been awarded a contract for its powerful Opera electromagnetic design tool by Siemens Wind Power, a leading supplier of wind turbines for onshore, offshore and coastal sites. Fast and accurate electromagnetic simulation helps wind turbine suppliers to make breakthroughs in wind turbine design. The Siemens design team employs the Opera electromagnetic simulator from the Vector Fields Software product line of Cobham Technical Services to help it develop new generator concepts, and often runs thousands of simulations within a few hours to discover the best design solution for applications.
