The Intertronics “adhere” ADH9105 is an excellent example of a precision engineered application specific adhesive for the high technology industries. adhere ADH9105 has higher impact, humidity and temperature resistance with a more flexible bond than mainstream cyanoacrylates – thus making it the adhesive of choice where gap filling and resistance to vibration, thermal shock or motion compliance are required, for example in mounting of electrical or electronic components, assembly of enclosures, cable boxes or in strain relief or simple wire tacking, e.g. in loudspeakers.

Leadless component ruggedisation with next generation adhesives from Intertronics

A comprehensive new catalogue is now available from Intertronics covering the extended Fisnar 500 Series of Dispensing Components – this not only includes a large selection of products for the dispensing and application of liquids like adhesives, coatings and sealants, but launches a new series of Micron-S precision needle nozzles for positive displacement and automatic dispensing. These nozzles supply 60% greater efficiency in fluid flow and displacement performance.

The BlueWave 75 from Intertronics is a new high-power UV spot curing lamp, which provides the optimal combination of low operating cost with high-intensity output to accommodate a wide variety of bonding applications and UV cure adhesives. This lamp transmits less energy onto the substrates resulting in cooler UV curing, a feature especially beneficial in applications that are sensitive to heat. The DYMAX BlueWave 75 includes a unique feature which provides precise user adjustment of light intensity to assist in process validation and control.

Intertronics, together with their technology partner Fisnar, have successfully addressed one of the factors affecting the accuracy of dispensing high viscosity fluids with standard parallel-sided dispensing needles. Standard stainless steel needles have a steep pressure restriction at the part of their cross-section where the needle joins the hub, leading to a high pressure requirement to generate flow and a high residual pressure in the needle when the feed pressure is cut – leading to continued “oozing” from the needle tip. These two factors restrict both free flow and accuracy of deposition. Fisnar’s solution, now available from Intertronics, is a range of tapered dispensing needles, carefully designed to reduce the post-dispensing ooze otherwise experienced when applying high-viscosity fluids with enhanced pressure requirements.

The new BlueWave® LED adhesive cure system from Intertronics is seen as a major advance toward the “holy grail” of an invariable and long-life process in UV curing. Explained M.D. Peter Swanson “The new DYMAX LED Prime UVA spot cure system gives some 10 times the life of a conventional arc type light source with much improved output consistency. In addition the ability to simply switch it on and off makes control easier and cheaper.” This new “green” system is excellent for adhesive bonding of polycarbonate, PVC, PET, metal, glass, and many other substrates, as well as the spot curing of various coatings.

SpeedMask® 730-BT from Intertronics is a DYMAX masking resin, formulated to provide excellent surface protection during chemical milling/etching, plating, anodizing, and aggressive grit-blasting operations, thus aiding in the manufacturing, overhaul, repair and rework of turbine engine blades, vanes and other turbine components, as well as many other metal finishing applications. 730-BT is impervious to most acid and alkali solutions. This next-generation maskant is trimmable for complex configurations while still maintaining edge tension to prevent leakage and damage to the substrate underneath.

The Adhesives and Dispensing experts at Intertronics once again lead the market with the new DYMAX Multi-Cure 987 conformal coating which meets the requirements of MIL-1-46058C and IPC-CC-830B. It is specifically formulated for rapid room temperature cure when exposed to UV and/or visible light. Any coating in shadowed areas on densely populated circuit boards may be cured with heat. Based on DYMAX Multi-Cure® 984-LVUF, the version 987 is designed with better wetting on circuitry and components. This product dispenses easily and cures quickly for precise quantity and placement.

High-tech’ adhesives specialists Intertronics latest DYMAX product is the 3-20794 – a new, See-Cure, colour-changing adhesive formulated with Ultra-Red™ fluorescing technology. This adhesive is designed for rapid assembling of plastic housings, laminations, and other applications typically used for appliance assembly. The bondable substrates include PC, PET, PS, PU, PVC, and ABS. DYMAX 3-20794 cures in fractions of a second when exposed to high-intensity UV light – enabling faster processing, greater output, and lower assembly costs.

A new clever mixing process is announced by the people at Intertronics using the Thinky ARV-310 and Thinky ARV-5000 industrial non-contact “planetary” mixers for engineering compounds. In particular these machines are excellent in creating nano-particle suspensions of medical compounds more reliably and quicker than traditional methods. This can often overcome problems of dilution where materials have negligible water solubility and they enable mixing, dispersal and degassing in amounts as small as 0.5ml, up to large, laboratory level quantities.
