Food-grade compressed air for the sweet side of life

Optimisation of the production processes in the Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co.KG required an improvement in compressed air quality. The problem was clearly defined: Compressed air for the pneumatic handling of cereals, cocoa powder and other primary matters in the production of chocolate had to be in accordance with the strict requirements of the HACCP concept. This concept is a preventive system which ensures the safety of food for consumers. Developed in 1959 in the USA for NASA. Under German law, HACCP became a constituent part of the Food Hygiene Ordinance in 1998. In the EU, it came into effect in 2006, together with the new hygiene regulations package.

The installation of five Breezair evaporative coolers into the Reinforced Tower and Carbon Areas at Jones Stroud Insulations in Preston, Lancashire by CoSaf Environments, exclusive UK distributors of the Breezair evaporative air cooling system, has alleviated oppressively hot summer temperatures of in excess of 35ºC to a more comfortable working environment of 25ºC. Such has been the success of Breezair that Jones Stroud Insulations is now expanding the cooling system to other areas of the factory.

Seven-month payback on energy savings from GEM steamtraps for the RNOH
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH) has reduced its energy consumption by a staggering £53,000 per annum following the installation of Thermal Energy International Inc’s GEM venturi orifice steam traps. A 147 GEM steam traps have been installed throughout the RNOH site in Stanmore, providing the hospital with a seven-month payback in gas savings alone.
