Can we automate it? Yes we can!

An infographic examining the advantages of business automation technology, and explaining how businesses can stay close to customers while using automation applications, has been released by Parker Software. The company found that businesses waste a total of four weeks a year on slow technology — costing around £2,100 per employee.

The average employee will spend a surprising 55% of their working life on administrative jobs. However, business automation technology could handle up to 30% of these menial tasks. Amid concerns about automation and the potential unemployment it could bring, Parker Software’s infographic has been designed to help businesses understand the real benefits of business automation software. It’s not coming to take jobs — it’s coming to make them better.

The guide highlights some of the most time-consuming office responsibilities, such as responding to emails, completing small, low priority tasks and monitoring social media feeds. It then goes on to identify how efficiencies could be driven across these areas, automating all those little jobs that take up serious amounts of time.

Parker Software’s own business automation platform, ThinkAutomation, is created with the mantra: if you can think it, you can probably automate it. Howard Williams, Marketing Director at Parker Software explained: “ThinkAutomation was born out of the frustration of manually rekeying data.

“Originally, the platform was designed and built as an internal admin tool for Parker Software, but it soon became clear there was no adequate alternative already available on the market.

“So, along came ThinkAutomation. We designed the platform to monitor and act on business events, so it can be used to manage email and SMS messages, database records, social media feeds and web forms, and then extract useful information from those messages to perform a series of relevant automated actions.

“As an example, businesses spend an average of four hours a day updating social media platforms, with retail brands receiving an average of 821 mentions every single day. ThinkAutomation can monitor social media feeds automatically, and the software is capable of replying to messages via intelligent auto-response — as well as posting updates and providing reporting and sentiment analysis in real-time.”
