Visit Altra Couplings and Bauer Gear Motor at IFAT 2016

Bauer Gear Motor offers a wide range of standard and bespoke components for the industry, including ATEX rated geared motors which are suitable for even the most hardwearing applications. It has even developed the world’s first EX rated IE4, PMSM geared motor which is suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and offers up to 40% energy savings compared to standard asynchronous motors.

For applications where permanent or semi-permanent submersion in fluid or slurry is likely, Bauer offers tried and tested solutions with extremely high ingress protection capabilities. Various sealing systems have been developed which offer improved IP ratings, and a specialised WIMES coating prevents ingress of moisture and particles up to 10 metres underwater. These capabilities will be demonstrated on the stand with a small geared motor which will be operating submerged in a water tank.

Bauer will also show solutions from its Industrial Drive Application division, which manufactures bespoke solutions and can deliver extremely high torque figures. The stand will play host to one example, namely a large bevel helical industrial gearbox which is driven by a standard Bauer geared motor and produces 35,000 Nm of torque. The drive will furthermore show the innovative cage clamp connection technology which speeds up installation and reduces the risk of disconnection through vibration.

Two of Altra’s leading industrial coupling brands will also be exhibiting. TB Woods will be promoting its Sure-Flex^® Plus and Dura-Flex^® couplings which offer reliable performance in applications where misalignment and vibration is common. Bibby will show its grid and gear couplings for high torque applications. Visitors to the stand will be able to speak to Altra’s coupling engineers about their applications and receive advice on how best to specify couplings for demanding environments.
