Quantitech launches process gas analyser range

Quantitech launches process gas analyser range
Quantitech has announced the launch of a new range of process gas analysers based on tuneable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS). “Whilst these instruments are new to the UK and Ireland, the manufacturer Focused Photonics Inc (FPi) has an installed base of over 8,000 instruments, so this is a well-established technology and we are delighted to have been given exclusive distribution rights for our territory,” says Quantitech MD Keith Golding.

Emissions analyser helps manage power station

A multiparameter emissions monitor at Thetford power station is being used to demonstrate to the Environment Agency that the plant is performing within the conditions of its environmental permit. However, the data from the analyser, which was supplied by Milton Keynes based Quantitech, also performs a vitally important role in helping to manage the plant. “Individual gas readings are displayed in almost real-time in the control room,” says Plant Manager Andrew Corbyn, “which enables our staff to respond quickly to the changes resulting from variations in our feedstock. This ability to continually adjust the process ensures that we operate the plant efficiently; generating the maximum amount of renewable energy whilst maintaining a good clean burn.”

Certification boosts demand for FTIR multigas analyser

Certification boosts demand for FTIR multigas analyser
Quantitech has experienced a surge in demand for the Gasmet portable FTIR emissions analyser, the DX4000. “We believe that this instrument is now the only portable FTIR with MCERTS certification, and this is driving demand for both instrument rental and sales,” says Dominic Duggan.

Latest multigas FTIR analysers can be hired

Latest multigas FTIR analysers can be hired
FTIR gas analysers have become popular in a wide variety of gas detection and monitoring applications because of their ability to measure almost any gas. However, the cost of this equipment can exceed the budgets of those that could benefit from this sophisticated technology, so Quantitech has established a small range of FTIR gas analysers that are available for hire.

Quantitech instruments measure nothing

Quantitech instruments measure nothing
Whilst many of Quantitech’s customers need to measure gas concentrations for reporting or process management purposes, some customers simply have to demonstrate that nothing is there. The Quantitech stand at AQE 2013 (40 & 41) will therefore feature instruments that are able to meet both needs.

Portable hydrogen detector protects safety of welding process

Portable hydrogen detector protects safety of welding process
A nuclear power station in Washington, USA, recently purchased a portable hydrogen analyser from H2scan for the detection of hydrogen during a cask storage welding process. The analyser is able to provide immediate indication of any hydrogen leak and as such represents a vital component of the plant’s safety strategy.

Continuous hydrogen monitor improves refinery isomerisation efficiency

Continuous hydrogen monitor improves refinery isomerisation efficiency
Quantitech launched a range of hydrogen –specific gas analysers in the UK and Ireland in 2007. Since that time Managing Director Keith Golding says “The solid-state sensor technology from H2scan has proved highly popular in a wide variety of applications, but online process monitoring is becoming the most popular because of the rapid return on investment that this technology can deliver.

Portable gas analyser tests satellite launch system

Portable gas analyser tests satellite launch system
Astrium, has employed a sophisticated portable FTIR gas analyser as part of a test programme for satellite launch systems. The analyser, a 'Gasmet DX4030', was supplied by Quantitech. Astrium Propulsion Test & Launch Services Manager, Greg Richardson, says: Many of the satellites that we design, build and launch are worth millions of Euros, so our test methods have to be extremely rigorous.

Hydrogen monitoring improves Syngas efficiency

Hydrogen monitoring improves Syngas efficiency
Syngas (synthesis gas) is manufactured from feedstocks containing carbon, such as coal, heavy oil, natural gas or biomass, to produce a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The production process involves a number of phases that start with gasification of the feedstock, and efficiency is greatly improved when hydrogen levels are monitored using a new sensor technology that is able to measure continuously without interference from other gases.

New portable FTIR Gas Analyser detects almost any gas

New portable FTIR Gas Analyser detects almost any gas
Instrumentation specialist Quantitech has launched a new version of the Gasmet portable multiparameter FTIR gas analyser which has brought laboratory grade gas analysis into the field. The new instrument, the DX4040, is lighter, easier to use and more flexible than its predecessor. However, Quantitech's Dr Andrew Hobson says: The most important development lies in the ability of the device to identify unknown gases in the field (at the touch of one button) when using a new version of the unit's Calcmet™ software on a Windows tablet pc.

VOC emissions data may be invalid

VOC emissions data may be invalid
Keith Golding, MD of Quantitech Limited, is urging stack testers and the managers of prescribed industrial processes to check the MCERTS certificates of their Flame Ionisation Detectors (FIDs). He says, “The FID fuel gas for which the certificate is valid is now specified so process operators should ensure, for example, that if the certificate specifies a Hydrogen/Helium mix, any compliance monitoring must also use this mixture or results will be invalid.
