Miniature ASCO valve offers isolates the media from the operator, preventing contamination or alteration of chemical propertiesEmerson has unveiled an ASCO 22mm Flapper valve, ideal for use in Analytical and Medical Technology (AMT) applications. The new valve design prioritises separation between the media and the mechanical operator, and combines this with highly accurate proportional flow control so often associated with ASCO products - opening it up to a multitude of application possibilities.

The existing ASCO 327 Series solenoid valve has now been made suitable for use in temperatures as low as -60°C, considerably increasing its application options for our customers in the process industry.Formerly suitable for use down to -50°C, this extension to the temperature range results in a reliable solution for Arctic and Polar conditions, which are increasingly common environments in Oil & Gas exploration. This ATEX certified solenoid valve is already a popular solution in the process industry, thanks to its proven high performance and robust construction. It also offers CUTR and IECEx certifications.

The brake motor, at the heart of the system, is a key element for reliability and safety, and must meet the most demanding requirements in industry.Emerson Industrial Automation presents its new range of Leroy-Somer FFB brake motors developed around the "Flexible concept",  a high-performance design which is the product of over 50 years´ experience in industrial applications. This robust, innovative concept offers an extensive range of options associated with safety and variable speed as standard, thus making the FFB brake motor ideal for a multitude of applications.

The small and highly accurate proportional valve offers users an easy-to-integrate solution on a broad range of pressure and flow control applications. Emerson has introduced its Preciflow 12.7mm miniature proportional valve by ASCO Numatics this November. The new proportional valve features one of the smallest footprints on the market combined with highly accurate flow control - making it ideal for a broad range of applications, particularly those in the analytical and medical industries.

Emerson has expanded its Control Techniques variable speed drive range with two new models designed specifically for applications which demand high speeds.The Unidrive HS30 and HS70 variable speed drives, capable of output frequencies of 3,000Hz, are perfectly suited to high speed applications frequently required for automotive & aeronautical engine and transmission line test equipment, machine tool manufacture and centrifuges for the food & beverage and oil industries.

Emerson announces the launch of a new ASCO Numatics low power proportional valve.  The valve has been designed for the accurate pressure control of air and neutral gasses in applications where power is limited.  The Sentronic LP consumes less than 4 Watts and is available with a nominal diameter of DN4 and G1/4 connections.  The valve has a flow rate up to 470 Nl/min and three pressure ranges that span 0-10 bar. It can be used singly or connected to a manifold for a compact solution where multiple valves are required.

Cabinet mounted valve islands now offer simplified installation and maintenance requirements as part of customised solutions for a range of industries. Emerson have unveiled a panel mount adaptor plate for the ASCO Numatics 501 Series of pneumatic valve islands, enabling the valve island to be directly mounted to the cabinet. The 501 series valve provides the flow of a 15 to 20mm valve in a compact 11mm size, addressing customer needs for space savings and simplified construction and assembly.

ASCO Numatics from Emerson has a recent member in its already successful family of Sentronic proportional valves. With power consumption rated at <4W, Sentronic LP is an energy efficient solution for a wide range of applications, including those in the food and beverage industry, packaging operations, bottle filling and leak testing and automotive manufacturing operations.

Emerson’s Control Techniques Unidrive M range has received the DNV type approval certificate. On 5th March, Rob de Ruiter of DNV-GL at Barendrecht, NL, presented the certificate to Teun van der Heiden of Emerson Industrial Automation at Sliedrecht, NL. In the maritime market, DNV-GL is known as a demanding classification society which sets high standards for products for maritime applications.

The energy-saving benefits of using Emerson drive and motor solutions have been highlighted in a test report on electric motors by Energimyndigheten (Swedish Energy Agency).The agency commissioned the test to investigate claims made by manufacturers of electric motors in various efficiency classes, when used in conjunction with a series of different variable speed drives.

New legislation covering the export of high frequency (HF) drives could result in hefty penalties, including potential prison sentences, for machine builders and system integrators.
