Elmo Motion Control

Pressure testing on a new remotely operated vehicle (ROV) has demonstrated that a special version 5.5 kW servo drive from Elmo Motion Control can withstand 700 bar, equivalent to a depth of 7,000 meters. The fly-out ROV built by All Oceans Engineering (AOE) is an auxiliary vehicle which assists larger ROVs with complex tasks on the seabed.

  Compact servo drives from Elmo Motion Control provide the driving force for what AB Dynamics’ (ABD) claims to be the fastest, most robust test rig yet. This enables the company, which specialises in testing systems for the automotive industry, to increase the speed and versatility of its Guided Soft Target (GST) vehicle.

The UK operations of Elmo Motion Control has been expanded with the opening of a dedicated sales and service centre in Burntwood Business Park, West Midlands. The company has been supplying its speciality servo drives and motion control solutions to the UK market for several years. The new centre is targeting the UK’s burgeoning automation sector, as well as printing and packaging, machine builders, medical, robotics, automated guided vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, inspection machines and harsh environment applications.
