Encouraging children to study STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is something that Barrett Steel Ltd feel extremely strongly about. Following an approach from a secondary school asking for steel to use in lessons, Barrett Steel were honoured to be asked to get involved and are keen to support the education of young people nationwide, where they can.

Barrett Steel is sharpening up its ‘green’ credentials by embarking on a campaign to reduce its carbon footprint across all company sites. As part of the campaign the group is working towards the environmental standard ISO 14000 and as a result has already implemented a number of initiatives to reduce electricity, water and fuel consumption, optimise raw material use and become more energy efficient in production processes.

Barrett Steel has increased capacity and reduced lead times at the company's C. Roberts facility in Rotherham by investing in a £500k upgrade to cutting operations with the installation of a Ficep Tipo A31 automatic CNC drilling and thermal cutting line for steel plate.
