The two double girder cranes are used in the production hall of a steel construction factory. Each crane is equipped with a VERLINDE VT404 main hoist with lifting capacity 20 tons and a VERLINDE VT204 secondary hoist with lifting capacity 5 tons. The hoisting speed of the main hoist is 4/0.6 m/min and the hoisting speed of the secondary hoist is 5/0.8 m/min. Both hoists run on individual trolleys with a cross travel speed of 20 m/min. The actual height of lift of the cranes is 7 m.
The cranes are calculated for a lifting capacity of 20 tons. The normal loads are below the 10 tons mark and sometimes there is a need for two fixing points for the load (this is the reason for choosing 2 hoists on different trolleys). So, for the normal loads that are less than 5 tons the secondary hoist is used and only when heavier loads occur the main hoist is activated.
The single girder gantry crane is a modification of an older gantry crane. The old end carriages and drive units have been used and a new main girder and legs have been manufactured using a new VERLINDE VT304 hoist.
