Briggs Equipment has further strengthened its successful senior management team with the appointment of Bill Goodwin as Sales Director. Bill has joined the UK's fastest growing forklift supply and service company as it consolidates its position as one of the largest businesses of its type in the UK and is the prime supplier of both Hyster and Yale Europe Materials Handling Equipment.
A former director at Jungheinrich, where he was responsible for operations and customer service, the 49-year-old said he is looking forward to a fresh challenge, helping to drive growth at a company that shares his own innovative approach to business.
In my previous roles I've enjoyed success by employing sales techniques that are based on empowering staff to make informed decisions, and to take responsibility for those decisions, he explained.

Briggs' believes in building close relationships with customers to develop innovative tailored solutions, underpinned by excellent service. These principles are the pillars of my own business values.
This is what really attracted me to the company, along with the opportunity to put into practice what I have learned in a similar, yet wholly different environment.

A Graduate of Sheffield University and Kingston University, where he completed an MBA, Bill started working in sales at Jungheinrich in 1986. In 1994, he left to take up a project management role at BOC Distribution Services before re-joining the forklift company two and a half years later.
To date he has enjoyed considerable success in developing customer-based solutions in logistics, cargo handling and warehouse design and development as well as in the forklift truck sector. He also has extensive experience of both UK and international markets.

As a former board member of the British Industrial Truck Association he was also responsible for the adoption of an industry-wide apprenticeship development programme aimed at attracting more young people into engineering.

On Bill's appointment, Briggs CEO Richard Close said: We are delighted to welcome Bill to the team at an exciting time for the company.

Following our recent acquisition of Barloworld, his extensive experience and expertise will help us strengthen our position as a market leader while building the foundations for future growth, he added.

Originally from South Wales, Bill now lives in Marlow and when away from work he enjoys a wide range of sports including cycling, skiing and rugby.
