Schneider Electric Installs Multiple Laser Design Scanning Systems Around Globe
Laser Design Inc., announces that Schneider Electric has recently made four installations of Laser Design SURVEYOR™ 3D laser scanning systems in its international network of manufacturing plants. These four systems join several other SURVEYOR scanning systems already installed around the world in China, France, India, and the U.S., whose use has significantly sped up and improved the quality inspection process on their high-precision plastic molded parts.
Three of the systems are the Laser Design SURVEYOR FA Series using the FaroArm with the high-speed, high-accuracy SLP-500 laser probe. Laser Design offers its SLP laser line scanning probes in an integrated solution with 7-axis FARO® Platinum, Titanium, Quantum or Advantage arms. Ultra-affordable and easy-to-use, the SLP laser probes combined with a FARO system are completely integrated for portable laser scanning inspection applications on all types of parts and tools. Geomagic Qualify is the software package chosen by Schneider Electric to standardize their inspection process. Geomagic Qualify enables fast, accurate, graphical comparisons between digital reference models and as-built parts for quality inspection.

The Laser Design SURVEYOR FA scanning system was recently installed in one of Schneider Electric's many facilities in Mexico. The portable inspection system with its high-accuracy laser scanning is used on the manufacturing floor for tooling verification prior to production molding. It can quickly and easily be moved from line to line, wherever it is needed. A second FA system was installed in Schneider's Cedar Rapids, Iowa facility. The system is also used for verifying plastic injection mold tooling prior to production runs. Schneider Electric's Lincoln, Nebraska plant was the recipient of the third Laser Design scanning system using the FaroArm. It is being used to inspect their complex freeform electrical parts on the factory floor.

The fourth system, a Laser Design SURVEYOR™ WS-2030 3D laser scanning system also with the high-accuracy Laser Design SLP-500 laser-line scanning probe was installed in Schneider Electric's Loves Park facility near Rockford, Illinois. In this system, LDI integrates their own SLP Laser Scanning technology with high accuracy German CMM technology to make the WS series the most accurate laser scanning system on the market. This system is similar to other Laser Design 3D laser scanning systems the company has in service in Iowa, Missouri, India, and China.

Schneider's repeat business with Laser Design underscores the increased productivity and top quality products they turn out as a result of the rapid inspection process. Our Surveyor systems provide Schneider Electric plants with the versatility of high-speed and high-accuracy scanning for inspecting tooling and production parts quickly, explained C. Martin Schuster, President and CEO of Laser Design. Plastic injection moldings, stampings, castings, and machined parts are all inspected with the laser scanning system. The Laser Design laser scanning system reduces Schneider Electric's inspection time and increases accuracy to improve their first article and production inspection processes for a fast ROI.
