Accurate and trackable thermal data in glass melt tank furnaces

Designed for operation within the harsh environment of glass melt tank furnaces, AMETEK Land has unveiled a new short wavelength radiometric infrared borescope imaging camera. The NIR-b Glass replaces the combination of point measurement and standard video images to give the plant highly accurate trackable temperature and a visual thermal image that can be used for batch control.

An optional auto-retract feature that provides extra failsafe instrument protection in the event of cooling water, cooling air or power failure, combined with a probe tip temperature alarms is also available.

The NIR-b Glass is well suited for container or hollow glass, float glass, fibre glass and borosilicate Glass.

The NIR-b is capable of improving glass production efficiency and throughput, enabling accurate temperature measurement of the melt line and allowing batch transit time recording and comparison. It enables glass production plants to be more energy efficient by optimising flame pattern and burn efficiency and gives operators crystal clear thermal video images alongside highly accurate temperature measurements.
