A new microdispensing valve has been presented by DELO Industrial Adhesives. The robust pneumatic DELO-DOT PN3 valve has been developed with a focus on performance and handling.Compared to its predecessor, the new valve features increased jet performance. This allows many adhesives to be dispensed in significantly smaller quantities.
On average, the minimum dispensing amount is reduced by a factor three, and some products such as unfilled acrylates, for example, can even be jetted permanently in amounts as low as 0.009mg.
With a maximum dispensing volume of almost 14mg, the valve covers a large field of applications. This is made possible thanks to an optimised fluid system geometry and two different piston types, one for very small dispensing amounts and one for small to medium drop sizes. Both configurations provide an operating frequency of up to 330 drops per second.
Furthermore, the microdispensing valve is clearly easier to handle. A rotary wheel is used to set the stroke of the piston by selecting one of five different locking positions without any additional tool.
The respective position is indicated by an LED, thus making it easier to check the stroke setting, in particular after integration into a production system. According to the modular concept, the newly developed nozzle heater has no open electric contacts and is screwed onto the valve, which facilitates disassembly for cleaning and maintenance.
Combined with the pneumatic actuator, separated from the fluid system, this forms an extremely robust and reliable system with long service life.
The valve is now available and is part of the highlights presented by DELO at the Bondexpo/Motex trade fairs from 10th-13th October.
