A new range of manual lever hydraulic valves (MLV9) has been added to its Vickers screw-in cartridge valves (SICVs) by Eaton Hydraulics Group. Intended for both mobile and stationary industrial applications at pressures up to 210 bar (3,000 psi), the new valves are designed to be integrated easily into custom manifold blocks, or manifold circuit designs (MCDs) that combine multiple cartridge valves in a common manifold block.

Mixers made by Landia are successfully keeping dense iron sludge in suspension at the former Horden Colliery near Peterlee in County Durham, where the Coal Authority have to ensure that local drinking water is kept free from pollution.

Pump breakdowns and a six-week waiting time for new parts left a hospital in Shropshire with a costly and difficult effluent problem until Landia stepped in to help.

Burkert servo- assisted solenoid valves are providing the top-up facility on rainwater collection systems provided by Rainharvesting Systems, a UK specialist in the technology. Used in both commercial and domestic premises, the collection systems are helping to offset the ever- growing demand for drinking water, providing an alternative water source for facilities such as toilets, washing machines, garden irrigation systems and swimming pools. In addition, the large amounts of water they collect also helps to reduce the risk of flooding.

Within a multi-outlet compressed air installation there may be only a few stations where desiccant dry-air is an absolute requirement. In these circumstances, the Hi-Zorb units manufactured by Hi-line Industries Ltd can provide the economic solution to constant -40°C dewpoint air supplies provided at pre-determined points of use. The small product footprint is also ideal for installation where factory floor space is at a premium.

Following a series of intensive trials to find the most effective method of removing scum and fat at a flagship Wastewater Treatment Plant in the South West, one of the UK’s main water companies has invested in PL200 pumps made by Börger.

At a Worcestershire sewage treatment works notorious for rags, Landia’s Chopper Pumps have helped Severn Trent Water significantly enhance the throughput at one of its pumping stations. Traditional prop-shaft pumps and later, dry-well submersibles were unable to cope with solids from Powick and two neighbouring villages, resulting in costly blockages and downtime at least once per week. But following an extensive 10-month trial, Severn Trent Water’s maintenance department reports that Landia’s chopper pump hasn’t blocked once, as Work Flow Technician, Colin Griffiths, explains:
