Series of quick disconnect couplings provide reliable connections

Expanding its FD85 series of robust quick disconnect couplings, Eaton have helped to prevent down-time caused by leakages, pressure drops and contamination of hydraulic fluid in industrial and mobile equipment, oil and gas, and construction applications. The couplings are now also available in 1.25” and 2” body sizes, meaning engineers have more flexibility and choice of coupling to best suit their application.

There are now six sizes in the thread to connect FD85 Series, ranging from 0.75-2”, and all carry a Lloyd's Registry Certificate for oil and gas applications as standard. The independent certification provides assurance that the couplings will perform to industry standards, which helps engineers to be certain they work under extreme conditions, therefore reducing costly downtime due to equipment malfunction or failure. Each mating part also carries the marking, indicating that the couplings are approved for blow-out prevention applications.

Product Sales Manager, EMEA, Eaton, Ron Molijn said: "The expansion of the FD85 Series will provide our customers with more sizing choices for the reliable products they already count to deliver maximum system up-time."

Molijn added: "The Lloyd's Registry certification delivers the additional peace of mind that comes from knowing that the products have been proven through a very intense, standardised testing process."

The Lloyd's Registry Certificate for fire conditions as outlined in API 16D and EUB Directive 36 Appendix 3 certifies the products as capable of maintaining pressures when exposed to a 700ºC (1,300ºF) temperature for a five-minute period. The certification applies to those assemblies where both mating parts are Eaton FD85 Series thread to connect couplings.
