The flap also provides additional protection from ingress of water and dirt projected at high speeds so is highly suited to outdoor and vehicle applications where the flap prevents build-up of material around the lock insert. This ensures easy operation at any time, even after long exposure to road grime or mud.

Visual indication may be enhanced by use of a self-adhesive reflective marker on the inside of the flap, which when exposed signifies that the latch is in ‘open’ condition.
