Series of roller chains designed for high fatigue strength

Chain manufacturer iwis will present the new HBC baler chains for harvesters at Agritechnica 2017 in Hannover, Germany. The iwis HBC (Heavy Baler Chain) series of roller chains has been developed specially for use in balers. HBC roller chains have fatigue strength and wear resistance.

The link plates of the HBC roller chains have a higher proportion of clean-cut edges, resulting in a longer chain service life and higher retention forces for greater stability.

The use of high performance steels and optimised heat treatment processes reduces wear with no change to chain dimensions. Optimised plate contours and special materials offer higher fatigue strength compared to the same size of standard chain, so that the chains do not need more space than conventional roller chains with the same pitch.

The premium quality initial lubricant is designed to meet the requirements of baler conditions. The excellent ratio of fatigue strength and wear resistance allows longer maintenance and chain replacement intervals.

With iwis agrisystems in Sontra, Germany, iwis operates a centre of excellence that benefits all users of agricultural machinery. With in-depth industry expertise, on-site technical consulting by iwis employees, a broad product portfolio, the supply of ready-to-install chains and kits, tailored drive and conveying solutions, and high quality and delivery standards, the company ensures that customers always get the right chain for each specific purpose.

“Our centre of excellence for agricultural machinery makes us the European market leader in this sector,” said Key Account Manager, Thomas Cohrs. “We operate as development partners, supporting our customers in meeting their challenges in this field. In-house developed state-of-the-art simulation and design tools assist our development engineers in choosing the ideal product right from the start. Especially in the harvest season, supply availability and speed of delivery are vital, and we can guarantee these by aligning our stock inventory with market needs.”

Besides baler chains, iwis agrisystems offers intake and grain elevator chains, cutting chains with attachments for corn and maize headers, chains for silage and spreader trailers, roller chains with bent 'K' style plates, accessories such as sprockets and drive belt pulleys as well as complete application kits for agricultural machinery.
