SKF roller profile rail guide range enables higher machining rates

SKF has launched a new roller profile rail guide range designed to meet the needs of OEMs that require high stiffness and high load carrying capacity in a compact design.

The advanced, modular design of the new SKF roller profile rail guide LLU range enables the accommodation of heavy loads and moment loads, making it ideal for use in a range of applications. This includes machines for turning, milling and grinding in machine tools, presses and other heavy machinery equipment with demand for very precise and high load carrying guides. High rigidity, high dynamic and static load ratings, exceptional running smoothness and effective sealing of the carriage enable optimum machining rates, as well as enhancing the geometrical accuracy and surface quality of machined work pieces.

As with all SKF profile rail guides, the main dimensions of the new range are designed in accordance with ISO 12090-1, including the system height, system width and the position of fixing holes. This allows for full interchangeability with ISO-compliant brands, enabling the profile rail guides to be fitted on new machinery and as replacement parts on existing machinery.

Commenting on the new roller profile rail guide range, Phil Nicholas, Business Development Manager, Linear and Actuation Technology at SKF, said: “The SKF roller profile rail guide LLU range is the ideal solution for OEMs that require higher machining rates and improved running performance. This new range extends SKF’s rail profile guide offering and is available in a wide range of sizes, carriages and accessories as well as in various preload and precision classes. It is competitively priced and available globally.”

The LLU range is available in four precision classes – P001, P01, P1, and P3 – and two preload classes: T2, for high stiffness with average to high loads and variable vibrations, and T3, for maximum stiffness with high impact stresses or vibrations and heavy loads.

SKF has also developed a range of accessories for its new roller profile rail guides, including rail caps in plastic, brass and steel and a cap assembly tool. In addition, the LLU range features various lubrication adaptors and an assembly sleeve for transportation, as well as incredibly effective front and side seals as standard to withstand the ingress of contaminants.
