Sandvik Coromant is now offering tooling dedicated to the challenging operation of machining valve seat pockets in oil and gas applications. Comprised of a combination of an elliptical Silent Tools adaptor and CoroTurn SL cutting head, this solution is designed to overcome prevalent issues such as narrow flow bore diameters, vibration tendencies and long overhangs.

NUM (NUM Taiwan Ltd) and Taiwan’s Feng Chia University have jointly developed an intelligent CNC gear hobbing machine with an advanced electronic gearbox that completely eliminates the time overheads of changing mechanical gears on traditional machine tools.

After extensive research into fibre laser cutting machines on the market, subcontractor McAuley Engineering in Northern Ireland concluded that the 6 kW BySprint Fiber from Bystronic UK offered the best performance. During cutting trials at three potential suppliers, average production cost per laser-cut part was lower using the Bystronic machine than on the other shortlisted models.
