Two sides of PDJ Vibro to see at Advanced Engineering UK

Presenting the two sides of its business at Advanced Engineering UK is PDJ Vibro, one being the new and used finishing machine sales activities, and the other is its contract finishing service. Both are designed to make life simpler for manufacturers that want to minimise manual work and move towards automating the finishing process for health and safety reasons and to improve consistency.

Components are processed efficiently and economically in vibratory equipment, whether it involves deburring, edge breaking, radiusing, superfinishing, degreasing, rinsing and drying, as well as pretreatment for anodising, chemical blacking or painting.

The sales division of PDJ Vibro offers new and used vibratory bowls, which account for a majority of turnover, as well as barrels and high energy centrifugal equipment. Free process advice is given, taking into account the number of parts to be finished per batch, frequency of production, drainage and noise issues, the size of components and how vulnerable they are to impingement damage.

Over 6,000 varieties of consumable including ceramic and porcelain media, detergents and other compounds can be provided. Over 70 tonnes of the main items are held in stock at the company’s headquarters in Bletchley, which has a showroom, technical centre and demonstration facility with over 120 machines in stock.

Designed for mass processing of small to medium sized components, the vibratory bowls have chamber sizes from 7.5-6,000L. Options include PLC dosing of chemical additives, water metering and recirculation, automatic parts separation, drying and acoustic suppression.

To complement the high-end vibratory finishing and polishing bowls, a range of three competitively priced models have been introduced with process chamber capacities of 300, 150 and 75L. The machines are priced at about 25% lower than the company's other bowls but are nevertheless built to a high specification. They have a durable, stress relieved bowl with cast polyurethane lining and are driven by a heavy-duty, three-phase electric motor.

The other division of PDJ Vibro’s business is around-the-clock subcontract finishing and polishing at its Bletchley facility. Components are normally turned around within 24 hours. The company offers a collection and delivery service but customers can arrange their own transportation if preferred and even wait for them to be ready.
